About Enjoy the ride

Fifteen instructors, one Saint Bernard, and a school small enough that we still know who's booked tomorrow.

The beginning

Where it all started

Roxane grew up an hour away, in Montreux, but her mother's family is from Crans-Montana. Her grandfather was the village postman, the kind of local who knew every trail, every face and every family by name.

She opened Enjoy the Ride in 2019, after over ten years teaching in schools built around volume. She wanted a school where your instructor knows your name before you clip into your bindings, and where nobody is handed a number and a meeting time. The school she had always wished she worked for.

The first season, 2019-20, was a test run, and a good one. Covid was around, so nobody expected too much: the instructors were glad to have a few clients, and guests were glad to be able to ski at all. It was the ideal way to find out what worked, and how to do it even better the following winter.

Around Roxane and Laurin, 15 instructors who all know each other. Between them they speak French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, so your lesson can happen in your language.

Founder, Instructor, Swiss Snowsports Expert, Youth+Sport Expert & Trainer

Roxane built the school from scratch, hires every instructor herself, does the planning, and still teaches most weeks of the season. She holds the Swiss Snowsports Expert diploma, the highest qualification in the Swiss system, and is a Youth+Sport expert. If you book with us, she is the one who answers.

She also founded Ride On, a non-profit multi-sport club for children in the Crans-Montana region. It runs year-round in clubs the kids call Families: ski, snowboard, freestlye, mountain biking and many more. Fun comes before competition.

Instructor, Software Developer, Youth+Sport Expert · Keeps the whole thing running

Laurin taught skiing before he wrote a line of code, and his father was a certified ski instructor and mountain guide before him. He and Roxane are married and have two children.

He holds the Swiss federal ski instructor diploma and Youth+Sport expert status, has run youth camps, and still teaches most weeks of the season. He later trained as a software developer and now builds everything the school runs on, from the booking system to this website. Guests keep describing him as the most patient instructor they have ever had.

What we believe

We hire slowly

Roxane chooses every instructor herself, and the school turns down more applications than it accepts. Teaching well matters more than filling the calendar.

We stay small on purpose

Growing would mean group courses, fixed timetables and a call centre. We would rather keep fifteen instructors who all know each other

We teach the next generation

Beyond the school, Roxane founded Ride On, a non-profit club where local kids ski, ride and bike all year. Passing the mountain on is the part she would never give up.

One family. One mountain.

Ride On - Action Sports Academy

Roxane founded Ride On, a non-profit club for children in the Crans-Montana region. It isn't part of the ski school and it isn't run for profit. Skiing and snowboarding in winter, mountain biking and wakeboarding in summer, in year-round groups the kids call Families.

Two different structures, one idea: get local kids onto the mountain, and keep them coming back.
